90 West Street
Press Release - National Preservation Honor Award to 90 West Street - November 2, 2006
Link To Magazine Article - Journal of Architectural Coatings - January 2006 90 West Street, designed by Cass Gilbert in 1907, was heavily damaged by fire and debris during the attacks on September 11, 2001. Façade Maintenance Design is the Professional of Record for the exterior restoration, which includes the copper clad mansard roof, terra cotta façade, granite base and the windows. The work was reviewed by the NYC Landmarks Preservation Commission, New York State Historic Preservation Office and the National Park Service. The scope of work for the exterior was designed to allow the interior work to be performed concurrently, thus shortening the construction time and allow the project to be successful. Façade Maintenance Design produced accurate building drawings which indicated each stone prior to performing the survey. New terra cotta, custom brick and granite replaces original materials in kind. |
